The Travis County Appraisal District had been using sales data from the Multiple Listing Service (MLS), but the Austin Board of REALTORS® (ABOR) owns that data.
ABOR got a cease and desist order to stop the Appraisal District from using the MLS data and the Appraisal District’s response was that they wouldn’t be doing any appraisals this year.
Since the budgets for school districts are tied to appraisal values and there won’t be any appraisal value increases (except for new construction), the school districts will likely not see any budget increases.
