There was a lot of snow and ice and some of the lowest temperatures the area has ever seen. Right in the middle of the coldest stretch, power was cut off to millions of homes. No heat in the houses caused water lines to freeze and burst, and in some cases, those broken pipes caused additional damage inside the house.
