10 Fun Facts – Austin’s Red Line Commuter Rail [VIDEO]

The Red Line Commuter Rail covers 32 miles from Leander to downtown Austin, with a total of 9 stops. Since its inauguration in 2010, ridership has steadily increased – currently about 700,000 per year, which makes it the 27th most ridden rail in the United States.

There has been over $95 million dollars in private development around the stations, with Leander and MLK leading the way. Current proposals under development include a walk/ride trail that will cover the entire 32-mile route, along with two new lines coming soon.
